Class Descriptions

BALLET
Beginning Ballet teaches the basics in positions, movement, terminology, balance and strength! Warm up at the barre with basic exercises, continue with an adagio and/or allegro in center and finish with across the floor combinations.
No experience necessary. Appropriate footwear includes ballet slippers, jazz shoes, socks or bare feet.

JAZZ TECH
High-energy warm up and stretch, then technique/balance work in center and finishes with across the floor combinations. Movement covered includes kicks, turns and leaps.

JAZZ COMBO
Instructors teach classic/traditional jazz choreography incorporating kicks, turns and leaps practiced in Jazz Tech.

JAZZ FUNK
Ever dream of being Beyonce’s back-up dancer? This class is for you! Learn high-energy, sassy choreography that uses techniques from both jazz and hip hop dance styles. No experience is needed, ideal footwear includes tennis shoes or sneakers, jazz shoes not recommended.

HIP HOP
This class focuses on hip hop choreography including grooves and footwork, and movement deriving from styles including popping, krumping, tutting, and locking.

HIP HOP TECH
Hip hop tech breaks down and drills the basics of hip hop movement like isolations, popping, locking, footwork and grooves. No experience is needed for this all-levels class.

PUMPS
This is Sac Dance Lab’s heels class! Learn sexy, fun choreography to a variety of mainstream music. Bring a comfortable pair of booties, stilettos, boot heels, chunky heels or wedges to class – ankle support is key!

PUMPS TECH
Drill the basics of dancing in high heels by practicing basic steps, perfecting shapes, breaking down floorwork and learning simple choreography combinations to practice your form. Bring a comfortable pair of booties, stilettos, boot heels, chunky heels or wedges to class – ankle support is key!

TURNS & TECH

All levels are welcome, this class drills turn combinations from pirouettes to piques, a la seconde turns and turning leaps. Plus you’ll get personalized feedback to increase your turning capabilities! Jazz shoes, socks or soft-soled dance shoes recommended.

FLEXIBILITY TRAINING
Dancers get a full warm up of basic across the floor movement, then work head to toe to increase flexibility using passive, active and isometric stretch techniques. Bringing a mat is recommended, comfortable clothing and socks or bare feet are ideal. No previous dance experience needed.

CONTEMPORARY Contemporary is a combination of jazz, modern dance and ballet. This class offers choreography focusing on expression, fluidity and floor work.

INTRO TO LYRA
This class will introduce you to the Lyra apparatus. Each class consists of strength building, flexibility, and body awareness while learning new tricks on the apparatus. Tailored for those with little to no experience. (Please  wear clothes that covers the back of your knees and the midsection)
